i've been watching a lot of videos on how to play civ 6 and itsjabo videos, as well as catching up on let's game it out.

i've been listening to a weird mix of stuff lately. mads got me morphine's "cure for pain" on vinyl for my birthday, so i've kind of been going through their whole discography. they're an all time favorite band, so it was a really special gift. :) i also remembered how much i liked the boards of canada album "geogaddi" and played that start to finish. it's such a cool album, both conceptually and musically. they do a lot of really interesting things with this one.

i've been playing civ 6 with mads; as of writing this, we're about 150 turns into a 330 turn game. it's got a learning curve for sure, but we've really been enjoying it. i've also, of course, been playing animal crossing new horizons. the big 3.0 update came out and i had to get back into it. we recently completed a playthrough of no, i'm not a human! that was a blast. absolutely my favorite game of 2025, and it was really fun playing it together. we're going to try and get as many of the endings as we can, so we'll definitely be coming back to it soon.

personally, i just turned 32! for some reason, i feel a lot better about turning 32 than i did 31. mads and i also had our 15th anniversary on the 8th! that feels like such a huge milestone. not to be sentimental in public, but i really do feel so enormously lucky and grateful to have had her in my life for so long. i was sick for about a week, just a really obnoxious cold. right now, we're gearing up for a pretty intense ice/snow storm that's supposed to hit tomorrow. we're expecting 8-12 inches (20-30cm) of snow, so everyone is freaking out. the grocery stores have been completely emptied out, people were coming into the gift shop i work at to see if we had flashlights or candles. i understand why people say southerners overreact to weather like this, but we genuinely don't have the infrastructure to deal with it here.
