let's take a trip together
headlong into the irresistable orbit

— about the band —

morphine was a band formed by boston musicians mark sandman, dana colley, and jerome deupree in 1989. they described their sound as "low rock," a combination of vocals, two-string bass, baritone sax, and drums.

sandman, the band's frontman, sadly suffered a heart attack on july 3rd, 1999 while performing at the nel nome del rock festival in palestrina, italy, and would pass away en route to the hospital.

my personal experience with morphine goes back to the year i was born. both my parents were huge fans of their work, and "good" and "yes" were staples in our cassette player. they hold a very special place in my heart, and i realized recently that they are, in fact, my all-time favorite band. their sound is so unique, so inimitable, absolutely no other music makes me feel the way a morphine track does. despite having gained commercial success, they're pretty obscure in 2026, so i wanted to share their music and mark sandman's legacy here.
